چکیده

In this paper the question of estimating the order in the context of subspace methods is addressed. Three di erent approaches are presented and the asymptotic properties thereof derived. Two of these methods are based on the information contained in the estimated singular values, while the third method is based on the estimated innovation variance. The case with observed inputs is treated as well as the case without exogeneous inputs. The two methods based on the singular values are shown to be consistent under fairly mild assumptions, while the same result for the third approach is only obtained on a generic set. The former can be applied to Larimore type of procedures as well as to MOESP type of procedures, whereas the latter is only applied to Larimore type of algorithms. This has implications for the estimation of the order of systems, which are close to the exceptional set, as is shown in a numerical example. All the estimation methods involve the choice of a penalty term. SuÆcient conditions on the penalty term to guarantee consistency are derived. The e ects of di erent choices of the penalty term are investigated in a simulation study.

A Tensor-Based Subspace Method for Blind Estimation of MIMO Channels

In this paper, we introduce a tensor-based subspace method for solving the blind channel estimation problem in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. The current subspace methods of blind channel estimation require stacking the multidimensional measurement data into one highly structured vector and estimate the signal subspace via a singular value decomposition (SVD) of the correlation...

Second order statistics spectrum estimation method for robust speech recognition

A second order statistics spectrum estimation (SOSSE) method for speech enhancement is presented. DFT amplitude spectral components of noisy signal are assumed to be random values. Upon first and second order statistic values estimation of noise-only spectrum, an enhancement of noisy signal spectrum was performed. As a reference, a fast discrete cosine transform based signal subspace (FDCTSS) m...

Sinusoidal Order Estimation Using Angles between Subspaces

We consider the problem of determining the order of a parametric model from a noisy signal based on the geometry of the space. More specifically, we do this using the nontrivial angles between the candidate signal subspace model and the noise subspace. The proposed principle is closely related to the subspace orthogonality property known from the MUSIC algorithm, and we study its properties and...

USING SUBSPACE METHODS FOR ESTIMATING ARMA MODELS FOR MULTIVARIATE TIME SERIES WITH CONDITIONALLY HETEROSKEDASTIC INNOVATIONS By

This paper deals with the estimation of linear dynamic models of the ARMA type for the conditional mean for time series with conditionally heteroskedastic innovation process widely used in modelling financial time series. Estimation is performed using subspace methods which are known to have computational advantages as compared to prediction error methods based on criterion minimization. These ...

Motion Segmentation via Global and Local Sparse Subspace Optimization

In this paper, we propose a new framework for segmenting feature-based moving objects under affine subspace model. Since the feature trajectories in practice are highdimensional and contain a lot of noise, we firstly apply the sparse PCA to represent the original trajectories with a lowdimensional global subspace, which consists of the orthogonal sparse principal vectors. Subsequently, the loca...
